Securing the Future of UW–Madison

The Wisconsin Investment Management Company (WISIMCO) maximizes the impact of philanthropic gifts made to UWF in support of the University of Wisconsin – Madison by overseeing, stewarding, and investing the University of Wisconsin Foundation’s (UWF) endowment investment portfolio (EIP) and other affiliated capital.

WISIMCO is the operational name of the investment division of UWF, a private, independent, nonprofit organization formed in 1945 to encourage individuals and organizations to make gifts and grants in support of the UW-Madison. WISIMCO works to deliver superior financial returns to sustain the UW-Madison’s legacy of educational excellence.

Carrying on a Legacy of Progress, Growth, and Discovery

Our charge at WISIMCO is to ensure the continuation of UWF’s long history of financial support to UW–Madison so that the university has the financial resources necessary to maintain and enhance its excellence in teaching, research, and outreach.

To support this effort, WISIMCO seeks to produce the best possible long-term, inflation-adjusted returns given UWF’s risk tolerance, working closely with the Investment Committee of the UWF Board of Directors. The Investment Committee serves as the investment fiduciary responsible for the prudent management of UWF’s EIP and comprises UW–Madison alumni who are experts in the field. The committee oversees the investment strategies, policies, and results.

The WISIMCO team is trusted with, and responsible for, managing the investments in accordance with the objectives, goals, and guidelines of the EIP. We continuously monitor industry trends, explore and evaluate investment opportunities, and provide prudent, ethical stewardship of gifts.
